Happy New Year – Pop The Champagne!
Of all the slots that Microgaming could make, a fruit machine based on the Chinese New Year seems like an odd choice, but the real question is, is there anything happy at all about this slot?

Format and Basic Rules
In some ways, this tends to be a very unusual classic slot – it adds another two rows to the equation, giving gamblers a total of nine symbols on screen at a time as opposed to merely three like usual. Naturally, with the addition of the extra symbols come extra paylines, five of them to be precise. You can change and trigger different paylines by increasing your bet. That, in turn, means that if you want to take full advantage of the slot and maximize your winnings, you need to use 5 coins per bet, and that may be considered too much for some gamblers, especially since the extra coins don’t really increase the wins you get for most symbols, but just the possibility of getting a win. It’s not exactly the best deal.

Conclusion – Not For Everyone
In my own, personal opinion, this slot isn’t worth it. Playing it at 5 coins per spin is just far too expensive, and on top of that the prizes and payouts that you can get are actually lower than its contemporaries. Microgaming has released other classic slots with the same exact gimmick (changeable paylines) that cost less to play and can pay up over twice as much as “Happy New Year”. Of course, with that said, not everyone’s after the big payouts, and admittedly, the idea of controlling your own paylines and going all the way up to five (essentially making sure that almost every combination of 3 symbols on the reels is going to net you a win) might be unbelievably enticing. It’s not my place to tell people not to play it, so if the idea of a whole ton of paylines on a classic slot sounds enticing to you, then by all means give it a shot! Just keep in mind that there are some superior experiences out there, should you care to look for them.
